Eventful Month for Kutaisi University (KU)


 

September has been an eventful month for our university in terms of activities in international projects. Within the framework of two ongoing TEMPUS projects coordination meetings and conferences were held in Batumi and Tbilisi.

 

On September 5-9, Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA), as the regional coordinator of “Cruise-T” project, hosted the following events:

 

  • “Cruise-T” project dissemination conference;
  • Working meeting of “Cruise-T” project partner Universities from Georgia, Ukraine and 5 EU countries: Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria;
  • The 2nd International Scientific Conference of Young Scientists and Students:  “Regional Economy and Business: Tourism, Logistics and Transport”;
  • The 2nd International Conference “Innovation Challenges of the Maritime Industry:  “Regional Economy and Business: Tourism, Logistics and Transport”.

 

The representatives of our university, both academic staff and students, took an active part in all the events held Batumi. Our project activities with three-year results and research projects of our students made on the basis of the Competence Center have been positively assessed by the project coordinator (Paderborn University).

 

Besides, our students’ presentation on Travelers Club “Horizon” aroused great interest and admiration among the audience. The travelers club was established by Kutaisi university students a few months ago. The mission of the club is to promote the growth of interest in tourism among young people and contribute to tourism development in Georgia. The “Horizon” is the real success story we can all be proud of.

 

On September 20-21, Ilia State University (ISU) hosted the events in the framework of “PEOPLE” project:

 

  • Documentary audit of HR processes for two Georgian partner universities (ISU and KU);
  • 2nd International Conference for “PEOPLE” project dissemination;
  • Training workshop on HR Strategic Planning for Georgian HEIs.

 

The international conference was attended by the coordinator of National Erasmus+ OfficeLika Glonti, representatives of Georgian Universities and experts from four foreign project partner countries: Armenia, Sweden, Spain and Portugal. Six representatives of our university participated in the conference. The open plenary session of the conference was devoted to the topics of Strategic Management of Human Resources and Auditing Human Resources processes in HEIs. Our representative, HR manager of Kutaisi University and the local coordinator of “PEOPLE” project – Elguja Deisadze made a presentation about the benefits of European experience in Human Resources for Georgian HEIs.

 

After the conference, the three-hour training workshop on HR Strategic Planning in HEIs was conducted by the HR Manager of KU – Elguja Deisadze and the Head of HR office at ISU – Mari Burduli. Both of them were previously trained in the area of HR strategic planning in European partner countries (Spain and Portugal). The HR specialists from 5 Georgian Universities attended the training workshop. The trainees found the training very useful for their future activities and frankly expressed their desire to make strong links with PEOPLE project partners in order to make it possible to gain more benefit from further cooperation.
